What Luck!

"Quelle chance!"

Maurice Carême (1899-1978)

"Quelle chance!"
What Luck!
Why yes, I could have been a crab, A beech, a bullfinch, or a dab, An iron bridge enormous, A rock, a rose, any of those, A squirrel or a dormouse. What luck that I’m a little lad, Looking out, sitting pretty, Who laughs and listens to his dad Whistling a little ditty.
